The staff occupational therapist reports to the IRU director and is responsible for supporting the mission of the hospital by providing quality occupational therapy services.  The occupational therapist applies evidence, knowledge, and skills regarding the therapeutic use of occupations to positively affect health, well-being, and life satisfaction of patients of all ages who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes.  The occupational therapist uses occupations as a method of intervention implementation by engaging clients in occupations that are therapeutically selected or other occupational therapy interventions. The occupational therapist interacts, collaborates and communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team, physicians, patients and patient's families for optimal patient and program outcomes.  

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from an accredited occupational therapy educational program.
  • Licensed by the Occupational Therapy Board of California.
  • Health care provider CPR license.
  • Functional Independence Measure (FIM) competency must be met within 90 days of hire and retested every six months.
  • FIM certification must be obtained within one year of hire and renewed every two years.
  • Must have demonstrated track record of effective collaboration with care team members of all disciplines and ability to function optimally as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients,family members, and visitors.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate in a positive and effective manner, verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skills and word processing skills.

Masters or doctorate degree preferred. Previous inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred.
