The Patient Business Services Follow-up Representative reports to the Patient Business Services Follow-up Coordinator. S)he is responsible for actively collecting and managing healthcare receivables and processing assigned patient accounts in a timely manner and in accordance with established policy and procedure; assists with priority accounts, problem resolution and exception processing. Must exercise tact and sound judgment in obtaining voluntary cooperation rather than confrontation. Other duties as assigned by a coordinator or manager.

High school graduate or equivalent, proven ability to quickly comprehend new techniques and concepts and adapt readily to change; effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions; experience with computers and working knowledge of standard office equipment, experience in patient accounting; knowledge of billing, follow-up, registration, reimbursement, medical terminology, and managed care. Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, organization, and interpersonal communication. Demonstrated ability to maintain positive professional demeanor in a demanding environment with potential for conflict. Microsoft Word and Excel; well groomed in appearance.
